What is IPL?
IPL is Intense Pulsed Light which is the most effective non-invasive solution for the treatment of hair removal and skin rejuvenation. Don't confuse it with laser, it is much safer! IPL offers you the most effective non-invasive solution for the treatment of excessive hair growth and skin rejuvenation. Here at the Hair and Beauty Lounge we use the Ellipse IPL system.

What can I expect?
You will receive a full consultation with a trained therapist and everything will be explained fully. Your needs and requirements will be discussed and an individual treatment programme will be drawn up. You will be advised on how many sessions you will need to achieve your desired results.
How does it work?
Light emitted from the IPL machine is filtered and absorbed by specific structures within the skin and hair. For hair removal, this light energy is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) content in the hair, converting it to heat which destroys the hair follicle. For skin rejuvenation, studies have shown that IPL will repair the damage caused by the sun and ageing, by increasing the production of the skin's collagen and elastin.
Does it hurt?
Tolerance of pain is very individual from person to person. No anaesthetics are required, and most people describe the sensation as similar to that of a rubber band snapping onto the skin.
What treatments are available?
The Ellipse IPL system is used for the treatment of a wide range of skin conditions, including the removal of unwanted hair and the treatment of sun-damaged skin, acne and vascular and pigmented skin disorders.
